| Measurement Mics what mics are people using for room measurements? I hate to even mention the name but is the beh ECM8000 any good for measurements? i dont want to go near said brand for recording anything but im not sure about measuring. I need something for tomorrow, i know i can borrow an DPA 4006 or but if i end up buying something cheap i would like to start using it straight away so comparisons are even. i dont have the cash to buy a 4006 myself. |

| It depends on what you want to measure and why. For low frequencies almost any omni microphone is fine, including a $50 Radio Shack SPL meter. To measure accurately above 1 KHz you want a "tiny diaphragm" like the DPA 4090 I use. Earthworks also sells such microphones. Measuring small rooms at mid and high frequencies is more difficult than measuring low frequencies. So again it comes down to what you are trying to accomplish. --Ethan
