| I have moved more toward the digital relm. For me at this time finding the right control surface is like searching for the Holy Grail. I haven't found it yet. I am using PTHD and just got a Euphonix MC-Mix. It has been so buggy for me that so far it is totally useless. (the Euphonix people have been helpful and responsive but it still is a useless product for me). Other people have had good success with the MC-- what the hell. I don't think I would hesitate to try a MC-Mix if I were running a platform that cooperates with Euphonix Eucon and on a computer than is no more than a couple of years old. I have a Mackie Control Universal that is fairly stable, it is just not fluid for me. By the time I get things set so I can adjust my plugin parameters via the control surface my protoplasmic CPU (brain) again gets a bit side tracked from the creative flow. I am about just give in and get a D Command but want to get my hands on one before dropping that much money. IMHO digital audio has arrived in terms of fidelity or quality of sound. For me the down side is the human computer interface that allows for a natural, creative flow. For me the computer -- mouse, key board and display just doesn't seem as "organic." Analog gear sort of calls me to create. Kind of like writing a poem with ink and a fountain pen vs writing a poem on a laptop. However, I recognize that there are many people who do just fine with the mouse and keyboard. Perhaps it is like learning a language when one is young and malleable.

Frankly, all I have known is the digital realm and working with analogue scares me. I am afraid of the apparent volatility of the music... there is no quick undo or save. at least unless you have a board that does recalling etc.. anyways. and its funny you mention the pen and ink thing, cause I much rather write lyrics on a computer where I can quickly change words and what not. Anyways- I think an MC Mix would be sweet. unfortunately- the cash is a bit much for the moment
