simple question about monitor levels

im going from an echo audiofire4 to my monitors, and im pretty sure i know the answer, but i thought id aska anyway.

i should set my audiofire's output to maybe 85% and then use my monitors gain as little as possible, correct?

just to get a good hot signal and not use the monitors gain as much if not needed.

That's the normal order of things.

Whatever you do, make sure that all the digital "gains" are set high.
