Hang Drum

Has anyone heard of these amazing instruments??? Furthermore, does ANYONE know where I can get my hands on one???

YouTube - Hang Drum Solo

There is a video of a guy playing on a set of authentic Hang Drums... Apparently, they are extremely rare and hard to come by... but I thought if anyone knew where/how ... slutz would.

Also... anyone seen the Reactable yet?? YouTube - reactable: basic demo #1

good luck in finding one!

they're hand-made I think by a couple of people only, there's a huge waiting list...

They crop up on ebay every so often

Sonic Couture do a hang drum sample library, but that's not really very fun now is it?

That's exactly what I've heard... 2 dudes in Switzerland or something... and they like to keep the supply down and demand up...

I'll keep my eye out... but so far, all I've found is knock-off's made of Propane tanks... they sound nothing like the real deal...

bummer...

I heard you had to travel to Switzerland, go to the guy's house and knock on his door and beg, and then MAYBE he would make you one.

I know someone who has three Hang drums and he told me the inventor makes them one at a time by hand by banging the metal into shape. Supposedly the guy got literally "dinged out" from making them and no longer enjoys doing it, the money is not the issue.

a company called Pantheon Steel is working on a new version of the Hang Drum. They are a steel drum company, so presumably they could produce it in larger quantities.

I don't think it's available for sale yet, they just have an email address for inquiries.

the eBay prices are so insane they make vintage Neve modules look reasonable. And apparently there is a good deal of fraud with some of these as well. I'd stay away.
