Gearslutz ideas?

Random ideas, your potential.

We can agree that Gearslutz is one of the finest resources in the audio field. A great archive, daily debate and expandable for the future.

Jules mentioned he might put up a jobs wanted/vacant board, which made me wonder about what else he could add. Here is a thread we can talk about what we want to see, and to expand on each others ideas.

Here's a couple for the hat - ambitious, but good potential:

---

A Gearslutz Cinema! Some kind of area we sign up for once a week or month for perhaps a pound.

This would allow us to:

- Enter our music submission for the week

- Listen to and vote positive or negative

- Discuss in real time about the tracks

Those with the highest ratings could actually earn a percentage from the subscription, and of course 20-30% goes to the 'running' of gearslutz ;)

Way beyond the format of a forum though! Very difficult to pull of but hey, I said to throw anything out there!

---

Gearslutz networking

Because MySpace is rubbish. Many of you may have got a profile on it perhaps, but really, it's crap. There can be a better way.

Simple profile with purely a list of experience, and demo tracks. Could be for individuals or companies.

Simple as that... except the entire coding process!

----

At least the ball is rolling. What would you guys have? I mean these are ideas that could still work well so maybe web designers can get some ideas from here.

I waS thinking the other day about some futuristic forum having a jam room for online jamming.

Another one; Round up a few trusted gearslutz and compose a jam piece. A great drummie would have to kick it off. Start with a good groove, send it to the bassman, then some guitarists can add in, so on. Have rough mixes posted as the project moves along and mix, recording notes, and other gs mix comments and suggestions posted. An interactive song.

Could be cool...or A flame seeking waste of time nightmare? Just thoughts.

Great idea... the technology is here now.

NINJAM - Novel Intervallic Network Jamming Architecture for Music - Main

It's fun as hell. And could easily be incorporated into your idea.

I've tried to start similar things on forums but there's always a weak link in the chain. But they weren't gearslutz!

Maybe we should try again?
