Anybody here familiar with Studer A820's?

Hi

Got a few problems with a Studer A820- can anybody help?

Basically- I am threading the tape correctly, all good to go, hitting play and the Spooling Motor on the Take-Up reel seems to be doing nothing (i.e it won't play).

Getting a number of Error Messages

1. ERR: SPOOLING MOTOR
SERVO HARDWARE

2. ERR: SHUTTLE VALUE INVALID

3. ERR: SPOOLING MOTOR
TACHO LEFT

If anyone can throw some advice my way, it'd be highly appreciated!

Thanks

Is it a 2" machine? How's your AC that supplies the machine? If it's low, the machine can behave badly. Also, replace all associated electrolytic caps. And, have the batteries been replaced? If not, some of the settings may have defaulted to inappropriate values. Don't know if these things are your problem, but when I had "spooling motor" etc., error messages on my A820, correcting these issues solved all problems. Good Luck.
