When you talk about RMS levels, do you mean sine-wave measured (AES-17), or square-w.

Well, the title almost said it all:
When you talk about RMS levels, do you mean sine-wave measured (AES-17), or square-wave measured?

All the time there's talk about this RMS level, mentioned in several threads in all the time.

And, every time I am thinking to my self: 'Are they thinking about RMS as sine-wave measured, the AES17 standard, or the square wave measured, like most daws and editors do, that has a 3 db different (lower) (that means higher number) value...

Very confusing...

So, therefore the poll questions:

Hmm, I guess I posted this in the wrong forum...

- is there any way to move it to the Mastering forum?
