Thread Starter | Melodyne? I am considering buying Melodyne on ebay, and I have a few questions for those who have used this plug... 1. Will it run on Cubase 4 (vst)? 2. Does it bog down your sessions? Running a newer MacBook with 2g of ram here. 3. How user friendly is this program? ***I am a firm believer in a good vocal performance, capturing a sound at the source, ect ect...Trust me...I GET IT. I am looking for tools, not crutches.

| I don't use Cubase, but Melodyne can run on its own also...unless you get just the plugin. The plugin will bog down your sessions like a large VST, not horrible IMO. The program is user friendly once you have put a ton of time in learning how to use it because there is a ton to learn. I am definitely not trying to talk you out of it because I love Melodyne, but it is a b!tch to learn. I would get Melodyne UNO instead of the plugin, do the correction outside Cubase, import it back in. I started a thread on Melodyne help, search Melodyne DVD and you will find it. Good luck... cam |

Thread Starter | Cameron, Thanks for the advice. For my workflow, I am looking for simple pitch correction that can go ON the track, as a VST or VST3 plugin for Cubase 4. Are there any other options available for this purpose? FWIW, right now I am using the Antares hardware for pitch correction (late 90s model), and am looking for a simple upgrade... so I really don't want alot of bells and whistles anyway. Any help is appreciated guys, thanks. |

| Melodyne is a lot more complicated to use and requires some manual editing. The results are better though. Maybe Auto-tune plugin is for you? |

Thread Starter | If anybody is running Melodyne plugin in Cubase 4, I would really like to hear about it... Although the Blockfish plugin is VST, it does not work in Cubase. I do not want to have a similar problem with Melodyne, and I am not interested in editing through ReWire. |

| I had quite some problems with the timing going out of whack between the Cubase project and the Melodyne plug-in. After the 4.1.1 (or 4.1.2 can remember) release of Cubase, Melodyne is working fine, though. I have not had any problems for quite some time now. Petter |

| I don't like installing if I don't have to but why don't you try it out? Celemony.com has a demo for the plugin, install and try it out. When you need help, post and we can help you get through with less headache. Just so you know, Melodyne is more of a PITA than autotune...but the results are better. You just have to know that you are going to have to put in some time learning it. Cam |

![]() Uh... what? Melodyne is 100x easier than autotune.... What do you find difficult? The only thing easier about autotune is the "auto" setting... but no pro really uses the auto setting anyway... they map it out. Try watching some of the videos on their website... | |

| I have Cre8 and the Melodyne plug-in, and work with C4. For quick work inside of a Cubase mix, the plug-in is great - I use it far more than Cre8 on a day-to-day basis. I did have the timing problems with rendered edits (as mentioned above), but they do seem to have gone in the later C4 versions... <crosses fingers>

| Autotune can't do a ton of the stuff that Melodyne can do, and I don't use the plugin that often so I'm comparing it to the studio version which almost has too many options IMO. Melodyne Studio is a ton harder than Autotune because it does so much, I just thought Autotune sucked when I tried it out. Melodyne makes sense to me now, but at first it was a bear. cam |

| I got the plugin for Logic and a few days ago and started using it immediately. I find it easy to use, but I adjust individual notes manually, so it does take some time. It's an amazing tool though. |
