Thread Starter | Luther Perkins rig?
Does anyone know what amps Luther Perkins, guitarist for the late great Johnny Cash, used. Damn well sure he's running his tele through some old fender. Cat sure loved the reverb... Been hunting for answers, but ain't found nothing. |

Hi Johnnie, According to Marshall Grant ( Johnny Cash's Bass Player and Luther's Tennessee Two Partner ) he played through a Silvertone 1300 Amp on all the sessions at Sun Studios. He also played a '55 Fender Esquire Guitar ( Single-Pickup Tele ) and used Flatwound strings. That guitar is currently owned by Marty Stuart. Hope this helps. |
