I finally got to see a real renowned studio. I live close to Pachyderm and have actually called the studio a few times to get a tour but never really was contacted. Well a friend of mine has a band called "The Cog" (Kick ass Metal band IMHO). They were recording out there for three days and we were there for the party after they finished recording. What a mind blowing experience that was! I saw the infamous Neve desk and the live room. The drums were still mic'd and was kind of like a dream for me. Im just a guy with a 002R in his basement so it was sort of like meeting a rock idol when you were a kid. I did not get to talk to the engineer much nor get to stay and listen as they mixed the album into the late night but stayed and hung out at the guest house for the party aftward. A couple friends from my other friends band "Trestle" were there haning out and we stayed till around 3:00am. The worst part of the night is I forgot my damn camera at home in the rush that I was in to make sure I got there! Damn.... I know it may be second nature to be around studios of the caliber of Pachyderm for some of you, but to me it was an inspiring experience to see where Nirvana, Mudvayne, Live, Soul Asylum, etc..... had recorded. And the experience of listening to the rough mixes after they were thorugh were fantastic. Well Props out to all the guys in The Cog for letting me be a part of that experience and here is to inspiration! The album (I don't know the name yet), sounded really good and I wish them the best of luck!
