McDsp Plugin Bundles?

I am needing to get into a bundle of new plugins for my 002 system and don't see too much about the McDsp stuff. Can anyone tell me if they are worth the price for the bundle say project or studio pack and which plugins get used more often then not.

Or, can you suggest other brands that might serve me better in daily all around use for tracking/mixing/two buss usages.

Thanks!

MCDSP are great!
Emerald collection should be a good choice cose you can find everything what do you need...and in native plugins is one of the best.
you can check flux plug ins as well.

McDsp plugs are GREAT...

but I do think that the "le" versions aren't nearly as good as the others....
and that the others are worth the price upgrade...

The 'le' versions are so limited... almost in an uneusable way on many of the plugs...
the "le" version of the eq is ok... as it "limits" the bands to 4 instead of 6... which isn't THAT bad..

comp bank - analog channell - are plugs that you almost have to have the extended version of in my opinion...

I haven't tried the synth stuff.. or revolver, etc...

mcdsp plugins are excellent. i really don't see many other's talking about them around here but i own nearly EVERY plugin known to man and i go to these alot. if you are only going to buy one bundle to handle all of you're need's the mcdsp's are great. get the full versions, not the le. the synth i never use, it's pretty bland.

I haven't done a mix in 5 years that didn't have Analog Channel all over it.

If I could only pick one plug-in bundle to work with it would be the Emerald bundle. Actually, I could probably do with Channel G, ML4000 and Analog Channel only!

McDSP rocks! ALL of their EQ and dynamics plugs are top notch. Can't go wrong there.

which LE versions? Or dou you say that the Native versions are not as good as the TDM versions?

I still dream of AU versions (of course in the same quality!).

McDSP makes 3 versions of their plugs:

HD (TDM, RTAS, Audiosuite)
Native (RTAS, Audiosuite) - same as HD, but no TDM versions
LE Version (RTAS, Audiosuite) - Limited feature versions of the native plugs
-----NOT COOL unless you REALLY can't afford the Native bundle. For example: With FilterBank LE does NOT include F2 (my favorite McPlugin!), or F3, or B1, or P2, P6, E2 or E6....ONLY includes F1, P4 and E4. All of which are great plugins, but you'll always be wishing you had the other versions!

I started with the project bundle. Mixed a whole record with it and it was great. I love Filterbank. The high shelf is a thing of beauty on that.

I then upgraded Revolver and Analogue Channel as I felt a little restricted by the LE versions.

I then bought Channel G and again, what an excellent "deep" plugin. You can pretty much nail a whole song with just channel g and a couple of delays and verbs.

You can smash the compressor models with it, get tight with the eq or go broad with API emu eq.

It really is fantastic.

Apart from MCDSP the only other stuff I use is by URS Channel Strip PRO, Saturation, and the A+N eq.

Just got a year long license through school for the emerald pack for just the price of an iLok.

I tried em out today for the first time and I was very impressed. Definatly gives you A LOT of options to work with. I also like the Analog Channel plug in a lot, gives it something extra that an ordinary eq or compressor won't do for you.

Haven't tried a lot of it extensivly yet, but I am begining to mix a CD I just finished tracking and these will be my primary plug ins so we'll see how they hold up!

Thanks for answering Michael...

To add to Michael's answer and to answer the op's question more directly... there are also several "packs" that you can get for the mcdsp plugins. The Project pack specifically is a collection of the "le" versions of the mcdsp plugs... which are cool, I'm sure... but are severely crippled versions of the actual HD/Native plugs as Michael has suggested. The full featured plugs are worth it in my opinion...

Filterbank and Compressor bank alone are just mind boggling...
It's hard to tell how many actual compressors come in the comp bank package... 3 different comps and one "modeling" comp that models 5-10 different great units...

Not that great a "model" but all of them are absolutely useful comp plugs...
