you could also say f*ck outboard gear like me and have only good preamps and twice as many DAW outputs as needed and during mix use your inputs and extra outputs as outboard gear. works great. especially with good DSP plugs like UAD-1.

for giggles, send one side of the mix out to the comp, with the comp in bypass.

do this twice.

do the resulting files null when the polarity is flipped on one? every little bit of sound you can still hear = phase issues.

now try it with the comp engaged and pumping a little. my guess is you'll get even less nulling from two 'identical' passes, but that's just intuition so don't quote me.

i'm gonna listen to unclenny's clips now, i'll report back if i hear any weirdness.

The biggest step is in the warm up. Warm the equipment with a few passes on your FET's or Tubes may not be at the same level. And you may loose cohesion. And do both passes in a row. And of course your converters as well should be hot.... But they are always hot lol.

But really it is an easy thing if you check the meters,,, AND EARS

Yeah....sorry.

I went ahead and processed all eight of the tunes with the 4T as outboard.....want to see how they play together.

Give a listen if you would, and check for anything strange.

Thanks.
