Thread Starter | Transferring from DA 30 to Pro Tools
Hi there. Today I decided to do some spring cleaning and one of the pieces of gear sittin; around doin' nothing is my Tascam DA 30 MKII. I'd like to transfer my DAT tapes to Pro Tools. Wondering the best way to do this. If I take the S/PDIF out of the DA 30 directly into the PT rig - I believe I'll bypass any type of conversion - correct? The other option I guess is to run the audio out of the DAT into an Apogee AD converter. Anybody have any experience or suggestions on a preferred method? Thanks, SparkyCanada |

| u are correct
Digital out to digital in implies no conversion, and is indeed the way to proceed.

Yep that how ya do it. And sync protools to external sync to get the DAT's lock. Once in a while Protools will show a couple overs but always sounds fine during playback.
