KRK Rokit or KRK VXT?

hi! I'm currently building my home studio in my bedroom!
and I was looking for a home studio near field monitors.
And I was actually intend to buy Rokit 6,
but the outlet in my place doens't have it! and I need to order it and need to wait more than 3 months in order to get it! but I need it on next month! on the other hand they just bought in VXT speakers and cost around RM2000 and more expensive RM 400 around 600 USD and 120 USD more expensive. (but not VXT 8, 8 is cost around RM4000 around 1250USD) And the Rokit 6 cost RM1700 around 500USD or Rokit 8 for RM2120 around 700USD

So I was looking for some review and comment on this 2 speakers! my budget is around 700 USD (RM2000)
anybody know which 1 is better for home studio?? and much more affordable?? sorry for my poor english! appreciates your reply~ Thank you!

We are blessed to have some ALL WORLD studio gurus in our midst...so my little project studio is not in the same galaxy as their Platinum Record Factories. That said...I own the Rockit 5s with the subwoofer and they sound great. The sub really gave me a full sound sprectrum to analyze (but they sounded fine even before I added it). I know that more discerning ears may have other opinions...but for this project studio stunt pilot...they are everything I need. They are a bit more "colored" than an NS10 or some of the other reference monitors...but for the money...I have been very happy with them. I added the sub and

I compared the "V" series (predecessor to the VXT) to the Rokit monitors.

There was no comparison, the "V" series was clearly superior. I even liked the V4, and am still considering buying a used pair for location work.

If you buy the Rokits you will, most likely, want to upgrade within a couple of years; get 'em used if you can, so that you don't take such a hit when you trade them in.

VXT6 is a LOT of monitor, but slightly above your price range. If you could get there, I think you're grabbing a great monitor with no serious compromises!

You might want to go with passive monitors. You can get more for your money.

I run Dynaudio BM6s with a Hafler Transnova.

The Adam AFN-10 monitors are a great value at about $750 (note: i don't own them) which is within your price range.

ADAM ANF10 Stuido Monitors (Pair)

Run these with the best amp you have available now (even a good integrated amp/receiver). Then, upgrade the amp later when you can afford it.

KRKs

No question the V series is a better piece of gear...my Rockits were literally the first piece of gear I bought...so needless to say...I wanted to upgrade shortly thereafter...and the subwoofer added a year or two to my satisfaction level (before I will need to be slutty again). That said...for the money...they sound great...not Ocean Boulevard great...not Abbey Road great...but Project Studio near great (if you catch my vibe). For $350...I am not sure you can do any better.

thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup on the Vseries!!!

after countless times of going thru "budget" monitor after monitor I finally landed on a pair that worked for me... the RP8's... My dream monitors were the V8IIs back when the price tag was still way up there... finally i got a chance to hear the V8's and happened to have some cash in my girls wallet for a really great deal!

I will say myself, its a whole new world... I heard things I have never heard before!!!

Havent listened to the VXT's yet.... Im not sure if I want those big things in my studio... they look like the hatch off "The Fly".... Im afraid that some mutated little man is gonna step out from behind the woofer and ima have to smash him.

oic~ But some of the monitors u guys said are not easily found or available in Malaysia...So Hard Luck for me!
Just called the shop again! they got RP8~ for now~ but no RP6 (like I've said b4, need to order)
Because I only have my bedroom for this project, Not doing any big recording, mostly Direct-In and other instrument is using plug-ins and keyboard.
So I thought that RP8 is a little too big and expensive for me. and If RP6 is in my budget and I can upgrade it with the Sub in the future and I can afford it!

another question just in case if I manged to afford VXT6! but what speaker amp should I get?? For now I'm getting M-Audio Firewire 410 as my audio interface. since I only needed to record my fren's guitar and a vocal. And I no need to worry about amp if I'm not good with it.
Any Suggestion??

Thank you so much for your replies!
I learn alot and wont keep myself outdated in this country - -"
Not much info I can get in this country... even the dealer is not a experienced person. So I can't trust his word! (but they are the only KRK and M-Audio Seller at my place)

I have both krk v4 old ones and rokit5 - the rokit5's are nice to listen to music on but I wouldn't use them for mixing - or I guess they are fine but you need something more critical to fine tune the mix. I think the combination rokit5 and v4 is great - i also have hifi setup in the studio to check mixes. I'm gonna update soon. Thinking of Genelec 8040A but I haven't decided yet.

Some people would tell you to get your room treated, because that will have a great effect on your listening experience. In any case, from the ones you mentioned I'd say just pick a pair. I've been recommended the HS50Ms before many times as it's the successor to the old NS10 of which I've heard "great" things, but I didn't bother to listen to 'em.

By the way, I just checked the KRK site and it seems they have updated their original Rokits to a new generation.

The new Rockit G2 series are slightly revoiced for more accuracy and the new shape of the front bezel helps greatly with stereo imaging and reduction of room reflections. They are a pretty big step up for the line.

KRK's engineers have always focused on the mid-range, while making sure the lows and highs are accurate. KRK may not sound as pretty as other monitors, but they will show you what's going on in the mix.

Check them out if you haven't yet, and decide for yourself. They should be in stock around the world soon.

Also, if anyone has any questions regarding KRK, I'm the guy.

I personally like the rockit 5s much more than the rockit 6's. The later has, to me, too much mid boost.

I write with the rockit 5's and switch to NS-10's to mix.

Beware of KRK Systems support. I have a pair of KRK Rokit 6 monitors and one of them went bad after two months. You can read about my whole story here: KRK Monitor trouble and the endless journey...

Many people on here have had similar experiences. I just sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, we'll see what happens.

I'm currently use the original RP6 and I agree that buy cheap, buy twice. It's a great starter but I don't think I'm getting all the details and 'truth' If you can afford it, consider monitors a step up like the VXT, Adam, Dyna...etc.

IMHO, rokits are hard to mix on. I've never been able to translate with those monitors. The old V8's were great monitors. I'd go with VXT today though.

Better yet, go with some dyns and call it a day. What are you mixing?

I have the RP6s and I'm quite pleased. It's easier to hear into the mix in the mids and highs with them than my old Yamaha NS10s which sounded cluttered in that area. My mixes translate well with them too. I just wish I could afford the sub for them. I will get the matching sub sometime though. Right now, I test reference for the lows on my home system with my old klipsch KG4s.

I'm in with that.

I had a pair of RP8s here in my room for 3 months and even after that period of time could not get used to them, nor get a mix that translated well. They are some of the worst monitors I've ever used. The voicing is the absolute opposite of what I consider to be good and revealing and there are so many bumps and holes in the spectrum that I found it nearly impossible to get decent bass and low mids. I went back to my $300 generic Chinese monitors and the sound difference was like night and day.

If you're in that price range I would suggest the Yamaha HS80Ms. I tried a pair out the other day and they are the best sounding monitor I've heard in that price bracket.

If you want to start getting serious, the Dynaudio BM6A is about the cheapest nearfield I've been able to find that actually starts to get into truly neutral territory. Bass response leaves a lot to be desired, but a sub can fix it, if that's your trip.

If you're an NS10 fanatic then I would go for the Yamaha HS50. Totally different voicing to the HS80M. The 80 actually sounds like a monitor whereas the 50 sounds like the cruddy turdpile of a boombox that the NS10 is (without the obnoxious 2k boost, which can actually be switched in and out).
