Cello Pickups! help

I need a cello pickup and I've seen a cellist with this one pickup which was awesome, the only electromagnetic pickup I've seen. I got a hold of the maker of the pickup about... 2 years ago(?) and he said he was going to be making another batch, then he started coming up with all sorts of reasons why it was taking so long, and now he hasn't replied for a year.

Do you think they would be hard to make?

I need it! it doesn't require a instrument preamp/eq or anything, I don't like those fishman pickups.

Those would take some time to get right. just stealing half of a split-coil bass pickup would work it the strings were flat instead of arched.

And/or... write to Eric Aceto at Ithaca Stringed Instruments

His violin pickups are excellent, and he can probably do a custom cello rig that's great, too... He knows his stuff...

I actually have the gage, personally I don't like having objects between my bridge and body though. Also the transducer pickups require alot of eq and their own special preamp to sound good and they also feedback I find. these are more like a guitar pickup - no special instrument pre and no eq required and very little feedback. Thanks though.

I will write Eric a letter, thanks.

Try Schertler's Dyn-C or Stat-C as well.
