impedance matching...how critical?

Greetings all...
I am considering a new mic purchase, primarily for vocals, and wondered how critical the impedance of mic and pre is when considering buying. I have a G. River which has 1200 and 3000 ohm specs (I believe).
I'm keen on a Bluebird, (600 ohms?)...will this be an OK partnership?
What are the "rules" with this scenario?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Anton.

Should be fine - the input impedance of the equipment should be higher than the microphone impedance - normally x5 or x10.

Depends on the mic, some mics load easier than others. Some spec a min. of 1K and a 50 ohm output impedance. So that's more like 20 times...
Check the specs on the mic...
But 1200 ohms and higher is best.

I like to "equipment" match,
for instance,

Microphones compliment preamps and visa versa,

I go about it based on the sound that each piece provides,

The less time I spend thinking about electronic design theory, the more time I have to think about which direction the music is going.
