What's your go-to vocal mic for female singers?

Ok, what's your number one go-to microphone for female singers (any vocal style)?

M269c is my first choice. Then M49.
After that, it's the usual suspects.

Peluso 2247SE or the 22 251 if it's a real nice airy voice

#1 Sony C48
#2 Peluso 2247LE
#3 Neumann M149

Almost always in omni pattern. Been through lots, those are the ones I kept.

If I had an open budget, then M49 without a doubt would be my top pick, for almost any singer. Where are all the M49 clones?

I just put my girlfriend through a nady RSM-4 and that is the most beautiful thing ever on her voice, cheap, but nice and soft... comfy... airy... just damn beautiful. I like ribbons on women. I wish I had a bigger mic collection though.

Something 47'ish. Most of the time, a Soundelux E47. If that doesn't work, then its usually because I'm looking for something with a little more top and maybe a little more modern sounding, in which case I give the Telefunken AK47 a go. And if that doesn't work, I pick up the phone and call someone else! I'm kidding... sort of.

I find most mics that are marketed as vocal mics sound good on male singers, but not often on female singers.

I have been recording a female recently who sounds great through my josephson e22 (typically a tom mic).

Ribbon mics can be good if you want that kind of sound.

Soundelux e250. Much prefer it to Brauner and Neumann M149.

AT3035! I'm waiting for my first chance to use my new Avant CV 12 for female vox, but the 3035 has never let me down here. It's won out over U87, U47, AKG "The Tube", 414 for one of my favorite female vocal clients.

I don't have a huge selection, but - BLUE R6 on either AKG C451, or sometimes on a CL TS-1 is rarely beaten.

I have used ribbons - most often to help 'thicken' otherwise anemic/nasally/sibilant voices. I'll put it beside another mic, and blend the 2...

I haven't had the chance to put my recently re-ribboned M260NC in front of a gal, but am looking forward to trying it out as well.

I started with a Blue-Blueberry and switched to the SM7B.

The Blue is a great mic for acoustic guits but for my particular singer, the highs were coming in just a tad too bright.

Signal chain at the time- BLue->2BA-221->TLA-50->DAW.

I'll try again with a different signal path.

BLue->X73i-> Purple Action->RME ADI-2-> DAW..we'll see how it works out.

The SM7B has a very flat response. You can play with your sound afterwards.
