Interface to G5

What would be a good, inexpensive method of connecting a Cranesong HEDD to a G5? I have a Motu 2408MKII, but I don't think G5s will accept the old PCI format in the PCI-X. Do I need a new soundcard or could I go via the optical? Suggestions?

For Digital I/O in PCI-X G5 i like the motu2408mk3... or the Lynx AES 16. I went with the linx since all the gear I use is AES/EBU (Benchmark, Lavry, Focuswrong ISA428)... works great and very solid performance... just as the motu PCI card which I had previously...

You can contact MOTU directly and they will offer you a trade-in for a PCI-424 which will work with the 2408mkii and your G5. There is a small fee of course (you'll have to ask them as I didn't look it up before posting) but you'll get what you need without having to purchase an entirely new interface setup.

Hope that helps!

Good news- I figured I'd have to buy something new. Thanks for the replies.

The bad news is the upgrade is $295:

Registered PCI-324 owners can upgrade to the PCI-424/G5 card for $295 plus shipping and handling.

Not horribly expensive, but enough to make me consider spending more to get something that will handle recording at 96k ... hmmm
