Has anyone tried this for snare recording? I was thinking about trying this or a Beyer M201 as an sm57 alternative.

Teh M201 is very nice on snare and I have also used a pair as overheads before and I find them to be very versatile mics.

I used to track w/ a yamaha mic a while... i can't find the serial number though.. someting w/ a two and zero and X... on of those mics that have the clip attached by a joint. It was really good on snare, beat the hell out of a 57... I usually use a ß57 at the moment since the yamaha one wasn't mine. If I can ever find one of those yamahas I'll buy it in an instant. I'll see if I can dig up the type there we go..... I think we're talking about the mz204 and mz205 very nice soundng mics I thought, nice and crispy. here's a nice rant I found about them while searching for pics http://www.rogernichols.com/EQ/YamahaMics.html they might be fairly common where you are, but not over here.... |
