What % Do You Take Off of Used Equipment When Selling?

I'm saving up for an Apogee Duet, & figured I could find a used for around $400 - $450 somewhere.

I'm planning on selling my NT1A, MS1B, & M-Audio Mobilepre. As a package, they'd retail at $530. Obviously, being used, I'll sell them a lot cheaper. The question is, how much? All three work as well as when I first purchased them.

I'm sure a lot of you have sold equipment before, & was just wondering how much people usually take off of the retail in used audio.

It completely depends on the piec e, the current popularity, etc, etc. I don't think percentages are as much of a factor as just what a particular piece goes for. You also have to factor in age. I mean, how much does a 20+ year old DBX 160X sell for? What did it sell for new? Based on demand, their prices have almost doubled on ther used market over the last 8 years!

In todays market, the value of a used piece is determined by an average of what they've sold for on eBay!

Whatever the market and my patience will bear. Ebay and the classifieds are a great baseline. Sometimes I'll stay near that number and sometimes I'll price comfortably under for the sake of a quick sale. Start with 50% of retail and then adjust according to what you find/need/want to make happen.

Of the items you mentioned, I have 2 like new Rane MS1B's to sell. I would anticipate getting $100 each for them (and I'll keep them before I'd take less).

A few years ago 50% was the norm for used stuff. Judging by today's Ebay
prices it is closer to 60%. I've even seen some stuff going for nearly 70% of
the new price. That is insanity. I'd rather spend a bit more and get a new
piece with a warranty. Of course, if the item is no longer being manufactured,
all bets are off. Bottom line: I won't spend more than 50 -60% on a used item.

It depends on how, old, how popular, condition, etc.

For instance, I could sell my mics for double what they were when I bought them 20 years ago.

But increasing value is normally limited to good microphones (mature technology).

Otherwise - in good nick as a private sale - probably about 60% of the current street price is where you start.

It also depends how many of the units of what your selling are out there and how much people want it AKA supply and demand. Have you seen how much Alesis stuff there is on Ebay? Also depending on what you have you might get more interested parties and $$$ if you split it up.

Appreciate the input. I think I'm going to sell everything as a package for $300 (which I'm guessing is around 55-60% of the retail).

On a side-note, is there a one-time fee for new sellers on eBay? I've purchased a few various items before, but never sold.
