Music Production Toolkit questions

Hi -

I bought the MPTK new in box (with security seal intact!) from a friend.

The box contains one thing - a DVD of TL Labs plugins.

I've installed all the TL plugins in the hopes that the Digi stuff is also somehow there (multi track BD, extra tracks, Smack! etc etc).

Now the sucker won't authorize. It's trying to connect to 'null.com' (?) and cannot...my new iLok is ready to go.

What the heck is going on?

Can some one verify the contents of the MPTK and what it should have in the box? I'm concerned there were only installers for TL plugs and nothing else.

Thanks for any help.

Authorization is discombobulated...keep trying different approaches, eventually I found a way to do it. You might have to do it via the website rather than the software itself. They make these things a lot harder than they have to be.

Unless they have packaged things different recently, it looks like you might have gotten a tad bit screwed. You should have dedicated discs for both the Windows and Mac versions of LE and M-Powered (4), and TL plugs (2).

If you got this from a "friend" you should be able straighten things out, or at least bust a few kneecaps...

Good luck!

Ok so here's the link form the Digistore:

http://store.digidesign.com/us/index...roductid=59731

That box is EXACTLY what I received with the security seal still intact.

1 DVD. TL Labs only.

Can some one confirm this one way or the other?

(Since when does the packaging not say what is included inside?)

My MPTK came with 5 CD, 4 are from installation, and one is the TL reverb
but you should have a card inside with some autorisation, you got to
go to the DIGI site and register your product, and then you will get the autorisation
for the MPTK on your iLok,

Don't worry, that is what I got too and I was confused and annoyed.
IIRC everything else was a d/l and part of the convoluted registration process. This has happened a couple times w/ me with software and I don't understand why companies ship you a box w/o the software in it.

MPTK comes with ONE DISC only! I'm positive...
I have it in front of me...
the rest of the installation is from the (single file) online download...
PM me if you need the file.

Mine came as 1 disc that had TL plugins, none of which were activated. I had to download the MPTK from Digi, then register to get the MTPK items. Apparently I bought a batch of dummy TL plugins, a cardboard box and a registration number...no physical discs with MPTK on it.

Yes it's weird!! Ok I've downloaded the file with the rest of MPTK on it

What's worse is there is no license card in the box...so looks like a major hassle is in store for me. Digi's internat activation is down as is TL Labs...

All of the rest of the software is right in the regular Pro Tools installer.

Is the serial number not enough to get this running?

Will I have to get the seller to go back to the dealer to get the license card?

The license card has a thing that you insert into an Ilok so that it will work.

I received a Registration ID card and a MPTK Activation Card in my MPTK.

Your name will not be associated with the the original order from the retailer and you will most likely be unable to get any help without that information.

I would get the person you bought it from to contact the retailer to resolve this issue. Software usually isn't returnable for a refund and only for exchange for the same product so you will need the original purchaser who should have the receipt and purchasing information to exchange it for the complete package.

Good luck with all of this!

You don't need the little ilok card...no one is really using those anymore. They don't even come with most software packages anymore. You should be able to register it with PT and then get the license in your ilok account via ilok's website. The software should be available from your PT discs or online. Call digi if you can't get it registered easily...call the pay line, its worth the money not to wait for 45 minutes for someone on the phone...

if you got the package with only one disc, you're not going to have a lisence card to stick into your ilok, you will have an activation number on a white piece of paper... that IS all you need... download the MPTK installer, fill out the activation number on
http://secure.digidesign.com/activation/
and then go to ilok.com and sync your ilok...
done..

you're just going to have to wait till the activation page is back up... or call them and activate over the phone...

Sounds like no quality control issue, just sounds like older mptks had different stuff in them...

The MPTK installer comes on every Pro Tools install disk, so you don't really have to download it. All the other stuff you do have to dl. The instruction card in the box tells you this, though they offer no explanation at all as to why they don't put a disk in the box. It may be that the box used to come with a bunch of disks, but now every one in my store has the one disk, a reg card, and an instruction card, and that's it.

No idea why though.

My box came with 1 TL Labs disc and a registration card. That's it. I was frustrated until I went to Digi's website to download the rest of the stuff. I have it registered and it works great for me. I love Smack!! Most analog sounding plugin comp i've got.

Jeeze people, breath a bit!

OK?

Originally, then the Music Production Toolkit came out... it included all the various discs that some of you have mentioned.

However, in late 2007 Digidesign changed what was included in the box. Newer MPTK come only with the 1 DVD for the TL Installers and Impulse Responses. That is it for the DVD/CD content for the package. There's also a card that clearly tells you the installers for everything else are on Digi's website and the ProTools installer disk. These packages also have a sticker on the front that says "Requires PT 7.1 or higher" and this is often an indicator that you have the newer packaging, not the older packaging.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion?

You need to get in contact with your seller and get the registration card(s)
and/or call Digi support.

With the registration cards, you register your product at digidesign.com

Once you enter in the product and serial number and your iLok account
name, digi will automatically deposit your licenses in your iLok account.

Then go to ilok.com, login, and then you will be able to download the appropriate
licenses.

It's very unusual for Digi not to include the registration cards. Perhaps this
is a return item and someone pulled on over on the retailer...
