| Gear nut | Recording my first full-length
I'm pretty excited. I will be recording my first full-length to be released in stores sometime around july. I just had a couple of questions... Is it standard to claim producer points? Does anyone know of any decent contract templates floating around the web somewhere? I couldn't really find anything worth using. I'd rather not get a lawyer to help draw something up. It will not be mastered in house.. I have never worked with an outside mastering house. I usually master my stuff at 24/44100. What's the standard normally? I may seem a bit n00bish.. We've got to start somewhere though. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I'm yet to do my first full length myself so I can't help on the legal front but I guess the producer credit depends on whether you have any creative input or not. How are you planning on running the project? Are you going to go song by song or player by player? |

What do you mean by "recording?" Engineering? Producing? If you want points then bring it up. Everyone I know that is flat-rate is happy to be. Do you know who is going to master it? Ask them. Different people have different preferences for things like bitdepth, samplerate, lead in and out time, etc. I think 24 44.1 is pretty common. |
