SPL Meter Recommendation?

Just wondering if anybody uses a SPL meter for sound level referencing and what might be a decent brand to look at getting.
Thanks

Hi,

I use a normal Radioshack meter, set to "c" weighted.

Works well for all the purposes I need iit for.

I have the radio shack one also (the analog VU meter version).

With regard to level matching songs, I use A-weighted because people tend to perceive level there across all volumes better. I must say, it works surprisingly well.

But for general "how loud is this stuff" I tend to use C weighted.

Radio Shack Digital /c weighting ;
its not calibrated to any standard so it may be off by 2/3 db, but whadyawant for $45? then again maybe its spot on . you could easily spend double or triple and still get something that doesn;t measure bass freqs. Glad I got mine - its fine for relative levels.

If I were real serious about it I'd go with a flat omni mic (which i don't have) and clean preamp into a laptop

+1 for Radioshack. It's always on and stays on the mixing desk. Protect your hearing.
