Genre dependant studio decor?

Has anyone ever come across info on whether or not certain studio decor schemes (wall color, artwork, lighting, etc) are better suited for working in particular genre's of music... as far as putting you 'in the mood' that is?

Silly question maybe (...ok more like prolly! ), but I'm getting ready to re-decorate my lil' whole in the ground and seem to remember a study by the US Navy about the color of the working/living environment in sub's and the effect it has on people. Be kinda cool if someone had actually studied this in so far as recording studio decor and its affects on mood and creativity... any thoughts?

I'd be interested too. But I think the "warm", "clean", "spacious", "hardwood floors", "lots of flashing lights" approach is pretty much cross-genre.

It would be interesting, when tracking or doing extended mixing sessions, to change the lighting levels each day. I can't find it anywhere on the web but I think it was General Motors in maybe the 40's or 50's that discovered changing the environment increases productivity on the assembly line. The study was specifically to do with lighting. Increase the lighting level: productivity goes up. Decrease the lighting level: productivity goes up.

Unfortunately most studios don't have GM budgets to do this kind of research...

Cheers,

Johann
