Upgrading A/D Converter

I have been using a Focusrite Octopre as my mic pre and then it was relegated to just an A/D converter. I'm getting ready to replace it so...What should I consider as a good go between my True Systems Precision 8 and my RME Hammerfall 9652 for under a grand?

Thanks
conga
