well i'm not a expert at this but to me the T#3 for the price is pretty nice.It is brite and has warmth. Some like the MXL ME67 too .Ithink that the right number. Take a walk over to these forums and talk to Dan(dot) and Harvey Gerst they have more know how than me.I think Harvey has some samples of the T#3 Recording Forum - Forum Powered by eve community PSW Recording Forums: Budget? Budget? We Don't Got No Steekin' Budjet I think Dan likes the MXL mic and Harvey likes the T3

Cheap condensers are almost all too bright for my taste. In that price range I'd be looking at some of the better dynamics. A favorite of mine has been the Beyer M-88.

The T3 IS bright, like an AKG C12. The V67 is a darker, and the MXL 960 is darker still. The ADK Hamburg is not bright. The Joe Meeks JM47a is also a good darker mic choice.
