They are definitely good by all reports. I haven't really heard any complaints asides from the fact that some people still feel they can be expensive compared to buying a 3124 for example.

I just keep waiting on funding in order to build 8 of them. It seems to be an easy build and that you could get all 8 done in a day, or a weekend at worst.

I'd be inclined to build two of each.

I built a rack of 4 N72's & 4 A12's. I love them, but I have to say that you are wrong about building 8 of them in a day or even a weekend. The N72's take about 4 or so hours each, the A12's take a little less & even these estimates are after you have built a couple & have settled into a diy groove. The main thing you should do is take your time & get it right the first time. I would recomment these to anyone wanting a great pre to diy without having to source any parts.

Thanks allot for the replies guys. I did a little research and I decided to definetly build 8 of them 4 N72, 2 A12 and 2 J99. Bluesman your absolutely right I wouldnt build 8 in one day (I could if I wanted to though. Im an electronics technician by day. I have over 10 years experience soldering and working on circuit boards). I would definetly take my time and do them right. I will keep you guys posted on the build. Once again thanks.

start out with some T15's. They are supposedly the same make as DAVs. You'll want some of those for just $80.

I was kicking around buying a DAV until I read about the T15s. I have space for two more units in my SCA rack, I definitely need to add another N72 (I have 1xN72, 2xA12, 2xC84) so I was kicking around either a T15 or a J99 (or another A12). I am leaning towards the J99 to mess around with on vocals. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I love love love the N72s and already have enough A12s for snare/tom duty, so its likely up between the J99 and the T15... hmmmmm.

What's happening?!

I think the SCA preamps are great!

The j99's sound great! Overheads, Bass, Synths! Makes everything sound big and hifi (Big like me)

A12's are fantastic on guitars, drums and everything as well

N72's are super on kick snare bass and lead guitar lead vocals too

Alright!!!

See you at the soda shop. Don't forget to tip Shirley a nickel!
