Thread Starter | Audio Technica ATH-M50 ?????
I'm looking at these headphones and ran across something interesting. Apparently there are two different versions of these headphones. The Professional version, and the Professional Studio Monitoring version about $10-15 bucks more. Can anybody verify this ?? and if so, would the Studio Monitoring version work out a little better in the studio setting ?? I'd like to use a pair for late night mixing and basic reference checking. Thanks in advance for any info...

The AT website makes no such distinction: Audio-Technica - Microphones, headphones, wireless microphone systems, noise-cancelling headphones & more : ATH-M50 : Professional Studio Monitor Headphones My guess is that you've seen them listed as two different products on a dealer websites. Dealers often get their info wrong...they've got a lot of stuff to keep up with. Please post a link to your information source.

Same product. Amazon is just acting as an intermediary to other companies, who have advertised them slightly differently. For closed back cans I prefer Beyer DT770 and just confirmed that again. |

As to the sound - have had mine 3 days and initial impressions are they make music sound good but not necessarily accurate -certainly smooth off rough edges so my preliminary feeling is they may not be good for mixing on but listen for your self. Cheers, Ross |
