2 channel a/d d/a converter upgrade

right now im using the rme/nuendo 8-i/o converters but i want 2 really nice channels for overdubs etc.... needs to have word clock and be signifigantly better than the rme's. Im recording mostly rock/pop/funk/etc..

For under $2K of A/D and D/A I'd recommend the Mytek stereo boxes.

how does the Kurzweil Rumour stack up against those Mytek units? same league?

Well the Rumor is what ... $500? It has a huge software investment and it has conversion by necessity.

The Mytek is 2 channels out of an 8 channel box that has been used for records with no budgetary limitations.

So what would you think?

My favorite my pre for overheads are the Helios Olympic style. Very open on cymbals. Great tone.
