I've always thought he slips into is "head voice" on "show your body"

It sounds like the rest of the notes are his "normal" register realy high though it is.

No idea about the mic , but I love the slight overdrive and fatness - Trident desk wasn't it?

I got to record him once. I think you could put a tin can and a string on him and it would still sound like that. Same thing with Bonnie Raitt, and all the other great singers I've ever worked with. It just comes out of their body that way...

I don´t know what mics he used on Roxanne, but I found something about the recording of "Synchronicity":

Recording The Police's 'Every Breath You Take'

Cool

Just commenting on the falsetto question. I'm 100% certain its not falsetto Sting is singin' but if you want to beleive its falsetto to be able to teach it from a lower vocal range; I wont tell anyone (else).....

I don't think Sting is singing in falsetto on 'Roxanne', I think that's just where his natural range is. He has such a great unique voice.

Speaking of Sting and vocal mics...

I love this song...with Sting and Sheryl Crowe, and I think the vocal sound kills. There's no reason to assume that the mics pictured in the vid were used in the actual recording...but...hmm, I'm curious about what they are..my guess was KSM44's based on appearance, but I sure can't identify them....anyone?

I think it's the KSM 32.... it has a black shock mount, the 44 has a grey shock mount.

I've heard good thing about the 32, never used one though.

I love the vocals on Roxanne. I agree, it's a nice lightly distorted sound that seems to fit.
