New Audio Interfaces

Hi everyone!

Any new audio interface comming soon for arround 1000 Euros (1500 $)?

I want to change my old M-audio Firewire with a new one, but can't seem to find the right one.

Thanks!

Alesis have a couple that have gotten fav reviews. Fairly good pres and converters for the dollars.
Oh I noticed you budget is $1500 so you could get something tried and true. RME

Some really good ones in the 1000€-range:
RME Fireface 800 (bit over 1000€)
RME Fireface 400 (bit under)
Mackie Onyx 400F (even way under, and excellent value for money)

Only on Mac, a bit over 1000€, but HIGH quality:
Metric Halo interfaces - check this forum for opinions (one of the few pieces of gear you might not find one single negative word about) and their website for specs. Must be quite without competition in that price range quality wise, except for maybe RME.

Thanks a lot for your answers!

I was thinking about RME like the FIREFACE 400 or 800. Are there any quality differences in them like the converters or the preamp used.

Is RME going to come with a new model soon? Those models are about 3 years and I was thinkong that mabe I should wait another few months if something new comes out.

What should you do?

Thanks a lot!

go for the FF400 if the I/O suits you.
i think the pres and converters in the 400 vs the 800 are identical.
not sure about new models, but i wouldn't wait to buy -- interfaces are like keys to a house (with the house being your music) -- you need them but eventually you will want to actually DECORATE the house. the FF400/800 converters are great and unlikely to be 'bested' very much anytime soon. the pres you will want outboard for eventually so just go for the FF400 and save some $$ for mics, pres, and monitoring/acoustical tx.

my 2 cents.

Yes I think you are right, I should go get the FIREFACE 400 but then it is too comon, and people have it for many years now.

And I really wish I could find something new.

I dig my presonus firestudio. Awesome soundquality and a lot of value for the money if the drivers work (they do sound better then the mackies)

What bizarre reasoning. Too common? If it's good why not use it? The FF400 has only been out 18 months or so BTW.

Still, I'm sure that there are newer interfaces out that MUST be better, I'm sure they'll give you that unique tone you looking for...
