control room monitoring

......... so i see a lot of pictures floating around on this message board where people have there speakers almost right against the wall... due to the size of my control room i have almost the same problem... maybe about 18 inches or so away from the back wall... how do you guys compensate for bass phase cancellation? i feel like sometimes the bass just disappears from my mixes...

should i just throw some foam behind my monitors? am i doomed and just have to learn how to deal with it? any suggestions at the moment would be a huge help!

Two words - bass traps.

Foam behind you will do very little, but it's not hopeless either. You need real bass traps. See the link below to my company RealTraps where this is explained in detail.
