| Adding another channel to John Hardy M-1 I'm sure I can get this info from the man himself, but I know how busy he is so I thought I'd ask you guys first. The Hardy website lists additional channels for $595, but do you need to send the unit back to John for installation or do you buy the channel and add it yourself? I'm getting the single channel first to try before I go to the second channel. I've read posts here where people said they added channels, just not sure how to interpret that. Thanks for any and all help. |

| I started with a 3-channel M-1, and added a 4th channel later. Fortunately, I used to live about 30 minutes from Mr. Hardy, and just hand delivered the unit for the additional work. I don't think they just pop in like a 500-series module, so you'll probably have to ship it back anyway. The chassis is really sturdy and the packaging is top notch, so no concerns there. Besides, he will check out the other channels while it's on his bench. Yeah, shipping and insurance charges may suck, but it'll be worth it. Consider starting with a 2-channel unit, with upgrades; the Deluxe as Mr. Hardy refers to it. Believe me, you are going to want two for OHs and the inevitable acoustic guitar duo. PM me if you have any other questions. Stu

| If you have reasonable technical skills you should be able to do it. It is only mechanical type stuff and "molex" type connectors for the electrical connections. There wasn't anything that was that involved when I did it. It was fifteen years ago, but I probebly did three or four channels on two units. It is funny that you mention John Hardy being too busy to help you... I used to laugh because he was so long-winded on the phone! Great guy though!

| Ordered the 2 channel I just wanted to thank channelcat and dbbubba for the replies. Also, I never meant to imply that I had tried to contact Mr. Hardy and found him too busy. I just had heard from Warren that he stays really busy cause he can hardly keep up with the demand, so I didn't want to bother him. And the good news is I had a fire sale on some unneeded stuff and was able to raise the extra $ to order the 2 channel. It will be here next week and I can hardly wait. I will soon have a John Hardy AND a Great River in my rack. WOW! Thanks again fellow slutz. L.P. |

| Yes, I ordered the "deluxe", I guess. It has the output transformers and the fancy meter. Man, I am psyched. Can't wait! |
