Inertia fueled by steady progress and much laughter.

If you can attain and maintain this CONSISTENTLY... it's all over but the shouting IMHO.

Best regards,

SM.

mic'ing a guitar amp with a stock oktava219 inside a timbale with the drumhead facing the amp about a foot away in a crappy room through a decent tube pre. It's like looking into the face of god and him saying:"you are my most perfect and wondrous creation."

I've run a p-bass into this thing (just using a 1/4" to RCA adaptor), and man... the sound of it is pretty neat - especially, for a slow, mellow song. Have you be mindful of clipping, but thankfully, with passive instruments, it handles it pretty well. Three band eq is very musically shelved. You just run the output out of the headphone jack. Haha.

Here's a picture of the unit...

Another secret weapon are my ADM 780's. They're ripped out of an old 70's broadcasting console. Kinda sound like an API... very nice 3D image, if you know what I'm talking about. Have to use an in line pad for higher SPL's though... these things come VERY hot.

Also... try using an AKG C-1000 on a low rock tom. It's gotta be matched with the right pre - typically, a pretty mellow one, but it sounds amazing. *May have to pad it as well.
I have that same reciever for my turntable. hmmmmmm......(eyes p-bass warily)

roland re501 chorus echo

especially on exposed, 'big' drums, vocal breaks, guitar solos, anywhere you need a bit of gunpowder!

yes. add transformers to 7110.. since JBL doesn't stock their original trannies anymore, I need to know what were the specs of those.

Cool! Wow, I have never thought of trying that.. I have an 808 and a bad monkey pedal.. I'm definitely going to give that a shot.

In college we used to call that 'Guitarcentering' it. As in we need to lay down 8 more tracks but we need to save our money for beer and weed. Let's just Guitarcenter an ADAT and finish tracking the album within 30 days.

crappy phonic reverb from the mid 80's. sounds great if you boost highs before and attenuate after (pre/de-emphasis). i've had it since it came out.

alesis microverb 1 for black metal stuff and also bass.

modded oktava mk319 for bass cabs and sometimes acoustic gtrs. (take away the resonator disc and replace all capacitors with something decent).

i used to love this cheap accessit compressor a couple of years ago. have'nt used it for a while but it used to be awesome for agressive vocal sounds. maybe i'll start using it again. wo'nt hold up to my 1176 though.

totally unknown brand omni dynamic that sounds great for agressive vocals and electric guitars. got it when i bought a box full of stuff from a laid down radio station. might be audio technica. like it through art tube mp to get gritty sounds.

röde classic into isa428, lowest impedance setting, for nice detailed vocals.

akg 414 in omni for REALLY close up singing can be nice.

behringer tube distortion for lots of distortion without messing up the harmonics of a full chord (minor/major/dim etc) on electric gtrs.

digitech death metal distortion. awesome!!! aaaaahhhrrrrgggggghhhh!!!!!!!

sm57 without trannies on the toms. there's alot of topics on the net about this "mod". for me it all started with this insanely large drumkit so i had to take away the body on 6 sm57's to be able to mic all the toms due to the lack of space and mics.

interesting to read about people liking the akg c1000s on percussive material.
i used to own one and i got nice drum sounds with it. i also liked it on my own voice but i do'nt sing that much so i sold it.

i also eat together with the band. it's important to get a feeling of being together not just for the band but for me as well.

A wood pencil taped vertically in the center of an AT3035. It creates a very rich sound on male vocals.

The mute button on the volume controller to my monitors.

Sadowsky HSH guitar:

the greatest tones I've ever gotten from an electric in my 28 years of playing and having owned over 40 electric guitars.
