I Need Some Suggestions

ok Here's my situation, This guy I know whats to open a Studio. The Room is not treated at all it's a bedroom and we will be recording mixing and mastering in the room. The Label is just starting and we will be getting and saving money from our mixtape releases

Here's the equipment list we've gotten so far.

AKG 200 Perciption MIc
Logic Pro 7
M-Audio Firewire Solo Interface
Beringer Mixer
IMAC 512 Gigs of Ram
KRK Rokit 8's

We want to keep the mixer, monitors, program and microphone until, we can afford the Command 24, Nueman and other things. On my list to save money and not get too much is. THis studio is private only for artist signed to the label.

What were getting for sure
Glyph 1 Terabyte Harddrive
Samson MS 100 Monitor Stands
Motu Midi Express 128
Lifetime Memory So Dimm 2 gig Ram sticks
Auralex SFS-184 SonoFlat System - Acoustics
Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones
KRK RP-10S Rokit Powered Subwoofer
Studio RTA Creation Station Studio Desk

What we are looking for is, a pre-amp, suggestion on a low noise/latency mic cable and midi cable(s). We are also undecided on Studio RTA wether or not to get Ozone 3 or Waves Diamond, even tho we can afford Sonnox and Stuff these gives use what we want.

I wish I had known about this site when I first started to get into recording. From my little experience, I'd say I think the best thing to do is set a budget, and make a mental note of what the most important components are of your studio. What kind of music are you going to be doing? How good does your room sound? There isn't much point in spending a lot on equipment if the room sounds like dung. Ask around about the specifics of each piece of gear you're interested in. Don't always rely on what people at music stores are trying to tell you because they're trying to sell you what they have.

Hey, I work in a small (14 by 9) bedroom studio myself. I've got some really nice gear now, but the absolute best investment I've made (and you're going to get this advice from a lot of people cause it's the truth) is the $700 I spent on acoustic treatment. The most expensive equipment in the world will not produce good sounding recordings if the room sounds bad. There is a ton of good info already posted on these forums about diy treatments and how to determine your needs. Check them out before you worry too much about your gear. I know it doesn't have the appeal of all the fancy gear, but it's absolutely the most essential part of making good recordings. Best of luck in your endevour.

+1 for acoustic treatment.
FWIW - Small rooms sound like bathrooms...
