Thread Starter | Converters dynamic range
Here is a list after researching: Alesis AI3 96db Digi001 96db Behringer ADA8000 103/108db Digi 002 105db Apogee Minime 105 Mackie 400F 107 Presonus Firebox 107db Presonus Firestudio 107/110db Digi 003 110db RME FF400 110db Alesis IO14/26 112db Audiofire 2-4 112/114db Audiofire 8-12 113/114db Lucid AD 115db Lucid DA 114db RME FF800 116db RME ADI-2 116db Apogee PSX100 116 Granted this isnt all in the low-mid range but it is a handful, for sure. I read posts here stating tht the dynamic range does not dictate the quality of the converter. However, looking at this list, it seems the units costing more, generally have a higher DR spec. There are a few exceptions but to this untrained fellow, it seems the DR is indicative of the place in the market and/or quality. Can anyone explain the true impact it has on a unit? Again, pls note I mentioned exceptions and I am sure that I or a website was off in on one or another... no claims to perfection, just noting a trend. |
