| Adam A7 vs P11a What is your opinion on these? I currently have a pair of P11a at home and they don't sound that much better than my Tannoy Reveal passive (!!!!). My room is treated properly (10 absorbers in appropriate places, 38% mixing position, rug under the mixing position, etc.) and I actually notice my mix quality deteriorating while mixing on these speakers. All my old tracks sound better ... especially the ones mixed on the Tannoys. I mix everything from HipHop to Metal to Electro. Has anyone compared the Adam A7 with the P11a or with similar speakers by companies like Event or Emes? Any advice is appreciated. |

| I've tried both in a shop against Dynaudio's bm5a and bm6a and bought the A7. We also have a pair of bm6a in the studio. For close monitoring i find the A7 well suited. But maybe your problem is more a question familiarity with your new monitors? It takes time to "know" your monitors.. |

| i had both in my place and preferred the a7's. for whatever reason, i couldn't hear the low end well with the p11's (in my treated control room), and my mixes turned out better with the a7's. my studio partner, otoh, much preferred the p11's. i ended up with the focal solo6's, which we both like the best of the three.

| Thanks for the replies! baikonour: the funny thing is that not all mixes sound bad, some of them actually sound really good. It's just very inconsistent ... zimv20: the low end has more definition on the P11a compared to the Tannoys (DUH, as they should with speakers that cost 700 a piece compared to 200 a pair :) ...) I just got a pair of older Yamaha MSP5 to test and will compare those with the P11a ... |
