OMF files?

I am using Cubase 4.

Now, I can export OMFs from Cubase, but Cubase will not open an OMF?

Soooo if somebody in a PT run studio wants to share a project with me, an OMF will not do the trick?

What am I missing here?

Cubase absolutely opens OMF files. I use them all the time. I transfer back and forth between Pro Tools and cubase/Nuendo using Digitranslator.

I believe Cubase session files are OMF.

Well that is damn strange. It shows up on my desktop as a .omf file, and when activated, does not display cubase as an appropriate program to open the file. Fwiw it is an omf 2.0 file

my nuendo wont let me open npr's from the desktop, but if I go in and click the open project file thing inside nuendo, it works fine. Might be the same bug on your comp just for OMF's

UPDATE

Unbelievably, I still cannot open the file, even from Cubase. This is the wackiest thing that I have ever encountered.

FWIW, I am running Mac OS 10.4.11, and...

Cubase 4.1.0.726

Weird...

Are you trying to import a session from Pro Tools into Cubase?

If so you need to export the session using Digitranslator. Some things about Pro Tools are really lame and this is one of them. They make you pay to have the ability to transfer session info.

Open Cubase----New project---File Menu---import---OMF

Then navigate to your omf file and follow the dialog boxes that follow.

Works fine here.
