| API 3124+ Users I have recently acquired an API 3124+ and in my limited experience with it, I seem to be using the -20db pad almost all the time. Guitar amps, drums, even vocals (with a hot condenser). Do the other API users out there have similar experience? Would it sound better to use some of those ATTY thingies and control the output instead of padding the input?

| You're experience with the 3124 is common. I've built 10 dB barrel pads for my drum mics that stay on my 3124 all the time. I feel the value of the API pads is too high and about 10 dB is just about right. |

| VERY COMMON PROBLEM!!!! However i allways felt that padding the input was a bad idea as it does not give the inputs transformers enough 'juice' to get the saturation and API factor going.. i found its better to run the outputs through something like an ATTY or pad combinations etc. YMMV Wiggy

| Lives for gear | the API's input impedence at full left is 150ohms......that's why there's such a hot level...

| Djui5 Just curious. What is meant by "input impedance at full left is 150 ohms" ? Isn't the input impedance set by the input transformer ( and pad, if engaged)? Thanks, Rick |

| i agree with wiggy...pad the output...let the inputs rip to get the juices going! Ron Florentine Soundswest Studio |

| Wiggy & Ron - What would you recommend to pad the output? The ATTY is kind of expensive for 4 channels.

| make up some inline pads or variable pads with a cheap switched pot and a handful of resistors... Just save ya $$ and get an ATTY cos they are the bomb and use hugh quality pots as well. Wiggy
