Duplicating an Extended Screen with Apple Mac

I have a question maybe somebody can help me with.
I have a Pro Tools rig with a screen and a second display that I use in extended mode (as opposed to mirrored) to see the quicktime movie that I am doing sound for.

I recently was in a situation where I had to put the second monitor in another room to record some music live to picture.

Because the director was with me in the control room and wanted to see the quicktime movie as well I had to work in mirrored mode and the musician had to see my pro tools tracks and me working on them while he was in there by the piano... it was the only way i could find for both the musician and the director to see the quicktime movie...

I tried duplicating the quicktime track but Pro Tools only shows one QT movie at a time.

Do any of you guys know how this can be done? Can I show the QT movie full screen on the second screen AND show it small in a corner of my main screen?

Thanks

video

best way is with an external firewire video card and a tv. You can split the output after the video card and run as many tv's as you like that way, and it looks way better than a quicktime on the screen (= happier clients).

something like the Canopus ADVC110 Digital Video Converter.

good luck

I was actually considering buying a wireless DVI transmitter and a TV with DVI input to put in the live room so that I can transmit the video signal to that TV without having to run wires... what do you think?

you could always just use a gefen DVI splitter. i dont know whay that wouldnt work. seems like exactly what you need. of coarse the wireless thing you were talking seems like the same thing, only wireless

wireless reduces cable clutter if it really works... that's the only reason

one thing people often don't realize is that you can use a firewire enabled digital video camera instead of that canopus thing. works just the same. Oh but something important to know.. I might have missed it if this were already mentioned.. but if you're using the play video via firewire feature, the last time I used it (it could be different with newer versions of pro tools) the quicktime movie absolutely had to be in .dv format.

I have the DVI splitter by Gefen, and it works as advertized. A little expensive.

But if money's no object:

I am trying to go wireless with the video signal...
if I just wanted to split the signal and run a long cable I could just buy a DVI cable splitter from pacificcable.com and then run a long DVI cable or convert to VGA and run a long VGA...
