looks like one of those "jack of all trades, master of nothing" machines that pollute the prosumer MI market.

Cool if you're into leftfield dance... Plaid, Mouse on Mars etc. From the (very) brief play I've had with it, think "hardware Absynth". Hope that helps!

You shouldn't judge a synth by its 'Looks'

"looks like one of those "jack of all trades, master of nothing" machines that pollute the prosumer MI market"

I bought one in January - it's amazing. A truly New synth that sounds and operates like no other. The sound quality is great. It is strongest when used with its internal sequencer where you can do things like:

separate the note (or pitch) triggers from the envelope triggers and apply momentary parameter changes for each sequencer step.

Also can hard sync oscillators that are being independentally triggered (playing different notes).

Just a few highlights. Definitely not a Virus or a Nord.

Overstayer ...

do you have keyboard or tabletop version. Did i understand right that you could also route audio in directy. Is this additiona to 6 voices or does it still on part.

Also what i didn understand is about using one type of synthesis. Can you for example use sid synthesis on all 6 tracks. How well is laid lcd and linking to main machine and how good are the effects and how many can you use as inserts and as sends ?

I listened to demos on the site but it seems that machine drum has a bit more of the punch, or is it the type of demo songs that leads me to wrong conclusion.

So basicly you could do minimal or detroit techno with this beuty right.

Thanks in advance

I don't have a monomachine but I've been researching the elektron stuff (been considering getting the machinedrum...).

I've read that for each of the six tracks (voices) you can use any of the 6 synthesis types, so, yes, you could use 6 Sid voices. You could use it as a 6-voice polyphonic Sidstation synthesizer, basically. Or you could have 5 monophonic Sid parts played back by the sequencer and play one part "live" on the keyboard along with it.

The sequencer also has six additional tracks, each of which can control an external synthesizer.

It seems very quirky. I have a feeling it will be considered a classic and a collector's item in 25 years, maybe like the TB 303 is today. (Pro-Sumer? Give me a break. It's a $2000 6-voice synthesizer, hardly appealing to the pro-sumer keyboard market.)

Jep, only 2000 for 6 voices of mono

i saw people are totaly raving about it, its hard to hold back. I would like to see or hear the true difference between monomachine and machine drum. From the demos i heard machine drum is also quite capable of producing variety of sound including leads and bass sounds. Mybe even more perfect for minial techno. And it has 16 part multitimbral while monomachine got only 6, but mono machine seems like a real tweaker and deep techno dream.

Well if i go for it will be table top version without the keyboard, i can somehow (well not really but thats why we are called gearsluts right ) get the money and being on cheap rice for a while

But im so seek sometimes of software and computers. I miss my hardware babies i had in past. Its like you alway got that new soft lust and never took time to do music

Donīt have one myself, but heard a couple of songs a friend put together and I really liked the sounds. turned out that most of the sounds came from the monomachine.

Sounds good. I have a SIDstation and it really stands out in a mix. It's pretty hard to mix with my warmer sounding old Rolands but is really good for leads that have to really stick out. This monomachine sounds much smoother and will probably mix better with other gear.

Since it's made by Elektron, I would expect it to be very good at what it does. I have their Machinedrum and it's phenomenal.
