Can't really say if everyone should own them, but I have my favorites.

DVD:

1) Tom Dowd: The Language of Music

A wonderful meeting with one of the early great engineers and producers.

2) Les Paul: American Masters Series

He's a rare genius with a Quaker work ethic. Jimmy Page's Grandpa.

3) No Direction Home - Bob Dylan

If an artist with Dylan's talents walked into your studio, would you be able to recognize it?

Books:

1)Mastering Audio - Bob Katz

Definitive and inspiring.

2) Pro Tools For Musicians - Gina Fant-Saez

The basics, with examples.

3) Recording Tips For Engineers - Tim Crich

Great advice, wittily written.
