Thread Starter | lavry blue or lavry DA10?
Going back and fourth which one to get. It would be for tracking and using in place of my masterlinks a/ds. Only interested in 2 channels of pristine sound. Somebody mentioned you can use the external word clock on the blue to improve jitter on my protools 192 then I have also heard the opposite there is no improvement. I have no external digital devices hooked up just using plug ins. thanks for any input.. again black or blue only need 2 channels a/ds. |

DA10 is a DAC, AD10 is an ADC, Blue is a chassis that holds modules of either (or even a micpre). The DA10 has more features than the Blue module, the AD10 is about on par with the Blue Module afaics, and the quality is supposed to be similar if not identical. If you're going for an ADC, I'd get the Blue chassis because the Lavry DAC is even better and you're going to want that too. If you just need a DAC, then the DA10's features are very helpful to me at least. |

I am leaning toward the blue somebody mentioned the saturation feature is useful for tracking. Has anybody heard the tube sound on the black?

They sound about the same in terms of overall quality. The difference lies in the the feature choices. It's like having a Mercedes, one is a SUV, one is a Luxury Sedan...some people need one or the other, but neither is 'better'. The Blue is modular, you can add other channels later of A/D, D/A, or mic preamp later and 8 channels fit in one single rack space. The Black has 3 types of digital inputs and a very accurate analog volume control.
