| Lives for gear | Question about EQ'ing and effects with pre-recorded drums I've recently fallen in love with NS_Kit ( the free version ), and figured out how to seperate each instrument to a different track. But I feel like I'm limited to how they were recorded I hear in lots of places that you shouldn't' use additive EQ too much, but in this case, how do you avoid it? What techniques do you use to warm up, or change the sounds of prerecorded drums? Any tips to how you get different sounds would be very appreciated

| As far as adding EQ.....I'm sure someone will tell you that if it sounds good it is good. It so happens that I just did a bunch of tracks from an Alesis SR-16 on a tune. I don't bump things up very often but I pushed up the freq's pretty hard on the crash and ride to get 'em to come out a little and it sounded pretty good so I left it. Slapped two different comp plugs on the snare too. Pre-recorded drums are the weakest part of my stuff so I figure I might as well do whatever it takes to feel better about them. Sweep the freq's until it tickles your fancy.
