Please HELP quick!!! *digital chatter noise coming from Lynx Aurora/AES-16 setup.

I am in the middle of starting a big big session.

I just got the Lynx Aurora 16 and AES-16 card with the AES multi-pin cables connecting the two.

I am using Samplitude as my software.

I have the Lynx Mixer software installed and I am using Samplitude.

I am getting digital chatter noise "ki...ki...ki...ki...ki...ki" at lowish levels when audio is coming into the Aurora.

I am trying to clock off the Aurora.

I have the Aurora clock set to internal running at 44.1

I then have the AES-16 Mixer software set to external clock source, 44.1kHz.

And in Samplitude when I select Lynx Two as the ASIO device, it only allows the option of "Internal" for clock source.

I was thinking...maybe I need to terminate the Aurora 16 with a BNC terminator if using it as the clock master for the AES-16 and Samplitude?

If I choose AES-16 as the clock source on the Aurora unit, the digital chatter goes away. However, the syncroclock light flashes, then faster, then faster again over the course of a few mintues until it goes solid and then locks in...weird? When I select the interanal clock of the Aurora, the green sncroclock light goes solid immeditely.

I am not sure if one of my cables is at fault or if this operator error and I just don't understand how to use this new setup.

Any help or advice or ideas would be so amazing right now.

Thanks!

How to solve the problem...I have no idea?

Should I disconnect the cables and re-connect them?

What is the problem with the Cables? Are they not making proper connection or are they just cheap made in China garbage?

Go the the lynx mixer page and set the clock to digital in 1. You can't clock the AES 16 to ext clock using the DB26 cables supplied by lynxx ( I assume that is what you have).
I have 2 Auroa16s and 2 Aes16s. The first card is set the digital 1 the 2nd card is sync via the lynx header. This is the setup that Paul at Lynx suggests for mutiple cards. If you have only one then digi 1 is the way to go.

Don't worry - this is normal behaviour for Synchrolock. It does take a while to lock. Sounds like your system is running fine when clocked to the AES16. I'm also running Samplitude with an AES16/Aurora 16 and I leave it clocked to the AES16. I find it easier to let the computer deal with switching between different sample rates. Try a search over at the Lynx forum - the merits of clocking from the AES or Aurora have been discussed before.

Cheers

Frank

I would suggest reading the manual and spending some time on the Lynx site. Sounds like you have a lot to learn about your system. It's a pretty basic setup and the info should answer most of your questions. I would also suggest reading some material on clocking systems.

You must set the clock of the Aurora to Internal and in the mixer set the AES16 clock to Digital In, whether it's 1,2,3 or for, it's the same, otherwise your OS will be doing the clocking and you defenitly don't want this.

It will take like 2 minutes to synchronize, try not to do tracking while it's still on red. and wait for synchrolock to post as "working" so you get less jitter.
