How do I setup the nominal level in my system please?

Sorry for my ignorance but I just got new monitors, Tannoy Ellipse 8,
I'm using them with Mackie Big Knob and Aurora converters.

The Tannoys have an input sensitivity trim for +4db or -10db.
So does the output feeding them on the Big Knob.

So far the Aurora was set on +4dbu, but the people who sold me the Ellipse (it's a hifi store) said the monitors should be set on -10db.

I'm pretty sure everything in the system should be set to +4db as I'm obviously using balanced cables in a professional envirronment.

Can anyone confirm that it's the way to go?

Thank you

Set them to +4.

That's what everyone has always told me to do.

And that's the proper weighting for a balanced system.
