Beta 91 or ... ????

Hey guys, I've just borrowed a Beta 91 from a friend, and used on a record I'm working right now, and I must say I LOVE IT!!! I want one. But then I thought... what other companies make boundary mics like the Beta 91?
I think I saw an ad for a Beyer mic...
Have anyone heard/use/like other boundary mics than the Beta 91?
Thanks!

I have a few 91's, and a few pcc 160's from crown. They both sound fine live and I probably slightly prefer the crown for the lip of a theater stage, However, I like the sm91 better for recording. I dont like the beta91 nearly as much, its thinner and raspier without the fullness that the sm has.

Frost,

Have you ever used the crown inside a kick drum?

The crown and the shure are 2 totaly different mics. The crown is a PZM, and the beta91 is a condensor in a PSM casing. a Beta 91 is basicly a beta98 , but of course in a low profile pzm case. we arnt comparing apples to apples here. FWIW, the beta 91 is super clicky, and unless combined with something else to get most of the drums sound (the beta91 for a metal click sound), Its not that great.

Oh yeah... I really like it for one of the kick mics. Put that thing inside... and the ole U47 on the outside... and you are in biddness!

Ooops, I'm sorry, I didn't know that the B91 was a condenser
Ok then, so, what about the PZM mics? I just dis another recording w/ the B91 and my ATM25 together on the kick and I'm 100% satisfied... now, I know what I want to record my kick drum!!

I'm sure the crown pzm is an electret condenser. Any other brand would simply be a boundary mic, and not a PZM. PZMs are only made by crown. But PZMs are boundary mics too.
