KRK RP6 vs 8's with RP10 Sub?? are 8's going to offer much more than 6 with sub?

Just looking for answer to this question. Is there an advantage and is it worth the extra $$ to get the KRK RP8's over the RP's 6's if you are going to have the RP10 sub?

Actually, I would expect the RP6 +subs to be better than the RP8. The smaller cone should have less problems with diffraction and break-up because it is smaller.

Of course, it moves less air - which you need for bass output at higher volumes. But, you have a Sub for stuff below 120Hz anyway.

i have rp6s and suggest them. Unless you have a well-treated room, a sub isn't really a great idea

I would start by just getting the RP-6's and see how mixes translate from your room. Once you've listened to them for a couple days or weeks you will have a better idea whether a sub is needed. Personally I have always liked 6" monitors over 8". IMO for the most part there is less of a learning curve and they translate better.

I have the RP8s and I do not think I need a sub. AND I mix house music.

Best

Hey,

...got the RP8s as well.
Canīt say that Iīm totally satisfied with my monitors. The lower registers is to me...how should I say...not so clear and distinct as I wish it to be.
Most certain my room has something to do with it too...

I have found that the low end translates fairly good. I do have room treatments, though.
