Thread Starter | Peluso 22 47 impressions
Just wanted to post my first impressions of the Peluso 22 47 I bought since many have speculated on it. First off, I think this is a great sounding mic. My female singer loved it. It really captured her dynamics and subtle breaths very well. Very airy and open. It handled "P" pops and loud passages well. A big improvement over what we were using before as our previous mics just did not capture that "airyness" The previous vocal mics being a AT 4033 and BLUE Mouse (hey, thats what I had) The Peluso was far superior to these as a vocal mic. I'll try it on guitar soon, I've been very happy with a Royer 121 on guitar so far though. I would like to add that I have a few low end condensers as well (PPA LD-1, Rode NT-1) and the Peluso did not exhibit any of the high end harshness those have. Clearly the Pleuso was of much higher quality soundwise so suggestions that this may be an overpriced "chinese condenser" are laughable IMO. The mic itself is solid and seems well built, it's about 7.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It came with a nice shockmount, power supply and cable. No fancy wooden box for the mic though, just a plain vinyl padded case. My dealings with Mr Peluso went very smoothly and he was friendly and patient with my questions on the phone and via email. I know most of the debate about the Peluso centers around if it compares to Neumann, which I don't really have enough first hand experience with to comment on..... but I do think judged on its own merits, it is a very good mic. It's always a bit nerve racking taking a chance on something no one else has heard, but once we started in on the vocals, I was very happy I took the chance. I'd be interested in hearing from others who have tried one out as well. |

Same impressions. I like this mic A LOT. Very warm and present. I don''t have a 47 to compare it to but, regardlless, it's a wonderful mic. Have yet to do any serious work with it though, so I suppose the entire verdict isn't in yet, but so far so good. But what a deal! Great mic.
