Vocal Condenser Mic $300-$400??

Hye i know this has problably been asked a dozen times if not more but I'm too lazy to search to be honest. Can anyone give me a point in the right direction for the best AKG, Shure, Sennheiser, CAD, BeyerDynamic, Samson medium to large diaphram condenser mic in the range of 300-400 dollars? I can't afford to spend more than that at this time and i do intend on buying something better in a few weeks but i just need a mic other than my Audix OM-3 to record with (haha).

In that price range I wouldn't think twice about getting an Oktavamod condenser, either a 219 or a 319. Premium electronics package if you can fit it into your budget (should be just a hair over $400).

+1 for Oktava mod mk319 Standard mod with premium electronics. Amazing mic for the money. Total cost---mic $125 (used) $199 (mod) = $325

For LDC, you really need to try it with your voice. A cheap studio projects, Rode, or CAD may sound better than a more expensive mic.

Safer to go with a Heil PR30 or a EV RE410 in that price range.

thanks of the suggestions but i am kind of only limited to the brands that I have listed, plus rode's. I work in a music store and can only get those brands in so i only have to pay cost.

Sounds like you work for Sam Ash, to me. At any rate, if you're just paying cost, stick with the Shure KSM32...it is tough to beat in its price range...especially if you pay only cost. If you can tweak your budget a little and buy the KSM44 at cost, you'll have yourself an amazing microphone that can hang with a lot of higher-end stuff!

Try out the floor samples until you find one you like.

Used KSM44 $450 ($400 with luck).
Or a used K2
or AT4050
In that order.

In that price range, with those brands, I'd probably lean toward the Rode NT2A.

But I'd still rather have the oktavamod, no matter what I could get an employee discount on... ;-)

The Rode NT1000 kicks ass for $300. It beat out one of the newer u87's on a female vocal session the other day. Stay away from the nt-1a' s though.
